What is cell phone flashing? 

The process of reconfiguring small internal files on CDMA phones to communicate with the desired wireless carrier. We can take a phone from your old CDMA carrier and make it work on your new CDMA carrier!

Can I get my GSM (SIM card) phone flashed?

Unfortunately, you cannot flash phones that use GSM SIM cards to work with wireless carriers that predominately use CDMA technology.  However, you can “unlock” GSM phones to work with other GSM wireless carriers. Visit our sister site http://hammerunlocks.com/ for more information.

What carriers can you flash to?

We can flash to virtually any CDMA carrier on the market! However, not every carrier will take a “foreign” ESN, meaning the carrier you flash the phone to may not activate a phone that’s not originally theirs (i.e. Verizon/Sprint). The carriers that we currently support are:

What phones can you flash?

We currently flash over 800 models and are continuously adding more! Here is a link to our supported phones list: Supported Phones. If a phone is capable of a full flash, please click on the blue triangle next to the model to see which carriers it can be flashed to and what features are available for that model.

What is a “basic” flash?

When a basic flash is completed on your device, your phone’s talk and text features will work.

What is a “full” flash?

A full flash on your device will unlock numerous features depending on the model of your phone.  In addition to a basic flash, features such has picture messaging, web browsing, GPS, applications and more will work on your current phone with your new service provider.

Is flashing & unlocking legal?

YES! a) 65264- C “Wireless Telephone Handsets-Interoperability With Alternative Networks”- New handsets acquired after Jan 26th, 2013 “Wireless telephone handset originally acquired from the operator of a wireless telecommunications network or retailer no later than ninety days after the effective date of this exemption (Jan 27th, 2013) to connect to a different wireless telecommunications network, if the operator of the wireless communications network to which the handset is locked has failed to unlock it within a reasonable period of time following a request by the owner of the wireless telephone handset, and when circumvention is initiated by the owner, an individual consumer,who is also the owner of the copy of the computer program in such wireless telephone handset, solely in order to connect to a different wireless telecommunications network, and such access is to the network is authorized by the operator of the network”

How does the flashing process work?

We have two flashing options depending on what fits your needs!

Tech Request: Flashtotalk Control Center

Available Monday – Saturday 7 AM – 7 PM PST and Sunday 9 AM – 5 PM PST: This option is when one of our Flashing Experts will remotely log in to your PC and handle the flash for you! All you need to do is plug in the phone to the PC and submit a request! This is a great option for stores that:

  • Have limited staffing and  time to do flashes on their own
  • Are intimidated by flashing
  • Have limited PC and flashing knowledge
Self-Service: Studio Lite

This option enables you to become the flashing expert and flash over 500 models in a matter of minutes! Simply plug in the phone and follow the step by step instructions! This option allows you to:

  • Flash 365 days a year 24/7 at your own convenience!
  • Save up to 50%
  • Flash over 500 models in minutes
  • Only average PC and phone knowledge required

How much does it cost to get set up?

How long does it take to get set up?

Generally, we are able to schedule your PC for a setup 1-2 business days after you register. The actual PC setup time will vary depending on PC and internet connection speed, but on average takes 20 minutes. You will receive your username and password once you have completed the required training! To ensure you have the best flashing experience possible, please have a dedicated flashing machine that meet these requirements:

  • Windows XP, Vista or 7
  • 2 GB of RAM or higher
  • 2.0 GHz or higher
  • 40 GB HDD
  • High speed internet connection
  • Mac & Linux NOT supported

How much does each flash cost?

Self-Service:
  • Basic Flash – 1 Credit ($5)
  • Full Flash – 2 Credits ($10)
Tech Request:
  • Basic Flash – 1 Credit ($5)
  • Full Flash – 4 Credits ($20)
  • iPhone Full – 10 Credits ($50)

When am I charged for my flashes?

We use a prepaid system, so you are charged when you purchase credits for your account. You are deducted credits as soon as your flash is complete and successful. You will only be charged for phones that were successfully flashed.

Do you offer a warranty on phone flashes?

YES!  We offer a Lifetime warranty on any phone flash with the following conditions:

  • For a period of seven (7) days, you may re-flash a phone using our Self-Service or Tech Request option for no additional charge if the MEID (ESN) and Target carrier remain the same.
  • For a period of a Lifetime, you may re-flash a phone using our Self-Service or Tech Request option for no additional charge if the MEID (ESN), Target carrier and MDN remain the same.

Limitations: Hardware and/or software alterations on the flashed device may void the warranty and be subject to full charge.  We reserve the right to void this warranty at anytime with our without cause.

Will I have to pay again to get the phone re-flashed if a master reset is performed on the device?

NO.  As long as the MEID (ESN), MDN and target carrier remain the same, there is no additional charge to re-flash the phone.

My customer ported their phone number after I flashed the phone.  How much does it cost to re-flash the phone with a new MDN?

If it’s within the first seven (7) days from the original flash date then you will not be charged to re-flash the device with a different MDN as long as the MEID (ESN) and target carrier remain the same.  If after seven (7) days you wish to flash the device with a new MDN full charges will apply.

What do you mean by hardware/software alterations?

Software alterations may include, but are not limited to: custom firmware (ROMs) and applications. Hardware alterations may include but are not limited to: custom modifications to the physical construction of the device and extended damage to the phone.

What does this mean: “some devices are recommended in the Self-Service Program to be flashed by a technician?

In most cases, these are devices that we determined to be very complicated and require additional flashing knowledge.  Typically, these devices are the new LTE devices such as the HTC Thunderbolt or the Motorola Droid Razr to name a couple.

What do you mean by “additional” credits?

We charge the price difference between the Self-Service and Tech Request. Example: HTC Thunderbolt Self-Service is two (2) credits Tech Request is four (4) credits You will be charged the difference of two (2) credits.

What does it mean when you say some “devices that need software updates…”?

Some Android devices (typically older models) need to have a minimum software version installed on the phone for it to provision successfully.  Having the correct software on the phone will ensure all the features work on the phone.
